When moving house in 2020 Button discovered a shoebox full of objects he had collected during his childhood, untouched since he was 7 years old. At one time he had grown fond of them, seemingly percieved them as precious enough to be sequestered away as a personal trove of great value. Gem and precious stone caches hidden in subteranean caves and burrows have been discovered in the Alps left by Neolithic peoples. The reasons and value systems behind their collections allude us in equal measure. Buttons frosted vitrine aligns the presentation of a clouded personal history with that of equally unknowable institutionally presented histories.
