In March of 2022 I visited Mexico to attend a wedding. Whilst in the capital, I stayed in Roma Nte, sleeping in a studio, rented by the friend who had invited me.

We wandered the streets between galleries, bars and houses. On these walks I began to notice serpent like fire hydrants projecting from the walls of banks and municipal buildings.

Their embossed metalic text read “Bomberos”, meaning firefighter/fire department. I collected images of over 100 Bomberos whilst in the city. Using the metadata of each image, I calculated the likelihood of a fire at the time and location of each photograph based on the local temperature and atmospheric conditions.
